Atari 5200 Advanced!

I'm now a proud owner of a Atari 5200 Advanced Video Entertainment System. One of the largest and rarest video game systems ever!! This great game system is also has a strong 8-bit CPUprocessor system like the Atari 7800 (it was based on the Atari 400 computer) and it even has a 4controller port in the front the machine like the Sega Dreamcast and N64 have (only the early 5200models did this though). It's true about the controllers though, THEY SUCK! The controller stick does not re-center itself after being pushed making for a lot of accidential deaths in the games but they also included cool features like a Pause, Number, and Reset buttons so its not a total lost.

The poor system never sold too well for Atari and the 5200 was killed off in July 1984 by the the Great Video Game Market Crash. There were tons of unreleased games for the Atari 5200 like Asteroids, Pac Man Jr. and many others that were killed off because of poor sales compared to the Atari 2600games. Another problem with the 5200 was it was NOT backward compatible with the successful 2600games, a special adapter was released in 1983 but it was too late to really make a real impact (the ColecoVision even had a 2600 adapter and Coleco was a Atari rival). A awesome system for collector's but not kids or the casually players.
5200 Rating: 61/100 a good list of old arcade titles but the odd controller hurts this overall score.

Rare Scale: 8/10 it only lasted two rocky years so it's the rarest Atari system around.
