SONY PLAYSTATION 2 (October 26, 2000-????)
A DVD powerhouse

Star Soldier's PS2 collection!

February 24, 2001
I finally broke down and bought a PS2! It was at a Newmarket Electronic Boutique where there were 12 PS2's still left, I spend easily over $700dollars Canadian that day. First it was $449.99 for the system itself, $49.99 for the 8Meg Memory Card (old PS Memory cards will only work on PSone titles, so I needed one), and $49.99 for the PS2game Gradius III & IV, plus 2 PSone titles and WWF Royal Rumble 2000 on DVD. "So was it worth it??"

HECK YA! I still didn't have a DVDplayer yet and I noticed how cheap some of the DVD movies are getting now, and my old Playstation was Modified, so not all the Playstation games will work on the Modified PS (like Legend of Dragoon). PS2 is a excellent complete package that solved both of those problems. Unfortunately I have very little interest in some the newer PS2 game line up outside of Konami's Gradius III & IV but it's still only its first year so its not a big deal.
PS2 Overall Rating: 74/100 it's pricey but if you got the cash, go for it!

PS2 Rare Scale: 3/10 surprisingly uncommon because of limited supply
.

COOL PS2 TOYS
PS2 Memory Card
The 8Meg Memory Card stores 8,000kb of space to save your PS2games. It should take a lot longer to fill than PSone games because most PS2games use less than 200kb. Original Playstation games cannot be saved to the 8Meg card though.

PS2 Contoller
The PS2 Controller is virtually identical to the newer Dual Shock controller on the original Playstation. The controllers are even backward compatible to limit frustration.

old news:
January 2001
No! I still don't have a Playstation 2 yet. Even if I could find one no game really stands out quite right now. NHL and Madden both look good but so did the Dreamcast version of NHL2K and NFL2K. TekkenTT and Ridge RacerV are nothing new either and they're suppose to be the biggest titles for the system. I'm happy with my new Atari 5200 and my old N64 at the moment, but I'll see if things change in a few years.

April 2000
Sony's on a roll, and their ready to crush the completion again with the PS2.  The PS2 is a DVD player, a Playstation, and most importantly a powerful new 3D system that uses something called the Emotion Engine.  Plus Sony will feature some kind of online service to play games over the internet, Square may have a online
Final Fantasy ready by 2002. The downside?  THE PRICE it gonna cost around $400-$550 Canadian when it comes out October 2000, so it better be worth it.  The games I want the most are Gradius III & IV, Ridge Racer V, and Tekken Tag Tournament.

TOP TEN (I still haven't played too many yet)

1. GRAN TURISMO 3 A-Spec
2. KLONOA 2: Lunatea's Veil
3. GRADIUS III & IV
4. ZONE OF ENDERS
5. RIDGE RACER 5
6. SUPER BUST A MOVE
7. THE BOUNCER
8. SNIPER SCOPE
9. ONIMUSHA
10. METAL GEAR SOLID 2 DEMO

Worst: SUMMONER

Disappointment: SUMMONER

Underrated: GRADIUS III & IV
