SONY PLAYSTATION (September 9, 1995-????)
Sony knows there stuff

"This is Pauline!" The PSgirl.

This system was suppose to be the 32-bit Super Nintendo CD add on, then Nintendo didn't want it anymore after the falling sales of the rival SegaCD.  Sony just released the Playstation themselves in 1994 in Japan, marketing it as a powerful 3D system.  As the Playstation grew so did the support.  Big companies like Capcom, Konami, and of course Namco only released their best games.

I recommend the original Playstation still you wanna spend your money on actually games and not power (like its sequel; the PS2). There are some really excellent PSgames still in the discount bins like CastleVania: Symphony of the Night, Final Fastasy 7 & 9, Tekken 3, The Raiden Project, and tons more. Not only that but there are also some fairly rare ones to like DragonBallZ: Final Bout, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Fox Hunt, great for collectors. But on the same note beware of all the games out there too like Cyberia, Descent, Hexen, and Final Fantasy 8. Although there are still more better games on the Playstation than the Playstation2 so far.

After Square released Final Fantasy 7 there was no stopping the Playstation.  It's 2001 and the PS is still on kinda on fire plus it still has least another year left in it, making it a good buy, hmmm....maybe next year we can see a original Crash game (Crash Bash?? Come on!!).

Sony Playstation's Overall Rating:  78/100 prehaps the smartest buy today although it's starting to show it's age now.

Common PSgames:
Sports titles
Cyberia
Ball Blazer
N20
Descent
Toshinden

Rare PSgames:
DragonballZ GT  Final Bout

Good Points:
*Tons of games in all categories
*CD'S have way more storage capacity on them than cartrdiges
*Many famous developers support this system (I.E. Square, NAMCO)
*Affordable prices for many games (10-80bucks, LUNAR is 80 btw)
*Not too many TFMV (Totally full motion video) games (ie, Dragon's Liar)
*Has an MPEG2 board built in to play back awesome video

Bad points:
*Loading times can be long in some games
*Some weak 2D features
*Lots of sequels that do the same ol' thing (I.E. Tomb Raider III)
