NEC'S SUPER
GRAFX (1990-1991)
the unknown turbografx-16
This was NEC successor to the
popular PC-Engine (Japanese Turbografx-16), the 8-bit SuperGrafx. The SuperGrafx
was NEC answer to the more powerful game systems like the Sega Megadrive and
the upcoming Super Famicom. To prove the power of the SuperGrafx, NEC released
a new version of Capcom's Ghouls N' Ghosts, which was also for the Sega MegaDrive.
The new version of Ghouls N' Ghosts featured better than arcade graphics but
no one really cared about this aging title anymore in Japan.
The SuperGrafx never sold well and the fact it was still a 8-bit system didn't
really help matters. The SuperGrafx can play PCengine card games to for a added
bonus. Only released in Japan.
RARE SCALE 9/10: only lasted a weak year so finding this system and all
five games can be very difficult. Extremely Rare!
